Osteopathy and post-Surgical Rehabilitation:
If you are planning to have surgery, it is worth knowing that there is good scientific research in favor of seeing an osteopath to help you recover more quickly. This has been shown to be helpful after lumbar disc surgery, if you have trouble using your bowels, for recovering from knee arthroscopy, if you get swelling in your legs following deep abdominal surgery, for certain cases of post-surgical nerve dysfunction, for
recovering from coronary artery bypass and following a hysterectomy. If you are contemplating surgery it is worth having a discussion about it; first, to see whether there may be a conservative option worth considering before you go ahead with the operation, and second, to talk about what the recovery time is likely to be, and to see whether it is worth having some treatment aimed at helping you to feel better, sooner.
